When you truly embrace the genuine and real you, you’ll be receptive of all the goodness that the universe is about to give you. What to do to have better self awareness.

1.     Always ask yourself why.

Before doing something, ask yourself why you should do it. Is it worth the energy and effort? By doubting the motive with the question of why, you can proceed with confidence in your own actions.

2.     Learn to express your emotions.

When you’re stressed or disappointed about something, talking it out and putting your emotions into words can greatly help. Describing exactly how you feel can alleviate the depression by knowing what to do to overcome it.

3.     Say no to yourself once in a while.

It is important to say no to yourself once in a while and give more significance to long-term gain. Instead of giving in to your every whim, exercise self-control and deny yourself with short-term gratification. The more self-control you have over small things, the likelihood that you won’t give in to temptations when they arise.

4.     Avoid knee-jerk responses.

People who have self-awareness think before they act. They don’t deal with problems impulsively. They list down the consequences that may occur by taking a particular action and weigh if they are worth the time and effort. Always act rationally and objectively.

5.     Embrace your weaknesses.

Nobody is perfect in this world and it is normal to have flaws. Self-awareness helps us see our true selves before criticizing others. It also helps in understanding what is needed to improve in ourselves in order to be better.

6.     Control your thoughts.

Dwelling into negative thoughts can cause stress and depression. Be confident by constantly telling yourself that you can do anything and have the power to achieve your goals as long as you set your mind into it.

7.     Be aware of your body language and improve it.

Taking videos of yourself and watching them can make you understand your body language and realize what you’re doing wrong and improve it. Being fully aware of your body posture and mannerisms can boost your self-confidence.

8.     Do not suppress the devil in you.

It is not wrong to question your assumptions and assume that you are wrong. It’s beneficial to argue with yourself to see how much you hold on to your principles.
